PREMADE PURCHASES
All premade purchases are non-refundable. The premade package includes the text changes, but no other changes (unless agreed prior to purchase with the designer).
If a premade is purchased with the intention of using it as part of a series and needs to be matched to current branding, the client will need to obtain the relevant designer’s permission.
CUSTOM WORK / SERIES CONTINUATIONS
The final files will only be released after completion of payment. For custom designs, the client or designer may cancel this agreement before the design process starts, by providing written notice. If the project is cancelled by the client, the 50% deposit shall be retained by the designer. Once the sample cover has been sent to the client, no refunds are applicable.
If the contract is cancelled, the client agrees to destroy all concepts/samples sent by the designer. Unclaimed designs may be used by the designer to convert into a premade or offered to others (the client’s book information will not be used).
Once a concept has been agreed for custom work, the designer will work on finalizing this. After this, any major changes (eg character swap) will incur extra charges. Limited minor changes are allowed for a maximum of three review stages.
The client agrees not to post concepts/designs in any social groups or public domains during the design process.
PROOFING/DELIVERY
The client is responsible for proofing the design. The designer recommends that the client requests a proof from the printer before ordering any materials that use the design. The designer will not be held legally responsible for any issues or expenses incurred by the client due to using the design.
Print wraps are constructed according to the information provided. Once wraps are prepared, if any changes are required (eg page numbers), this will incur a charge.
If any changes are required after the order is delivered, these will incur a charge.
LICENSING/COPYRIGHT
Due to copyright and licensing restrictions, PSD files used to create covers cannot be provided to clients. However, if the client requires flattened artwork with separate text, this can be supplied for an additional fee.
As is standard, the designer retains the copyright to the completed artwork, but the client has the exclusive license to use the final cover design for their book and associated promotional materials. The designer is not liable for client misuse of licensed images and fonts.
Without consent from the designer, the client may not extract sections of the purchased design for use on other covers or material unrelated to the book it was purchased for. The client cannot alter the final cover design except to change the size for printing or digital display. Any alterations to the final design must be done via consultation with the designer. Additional fees will be involved for alterations.
The designer can display the work in their portfolio or as a printed work for promotional purposes. The timing can be agreed with the client to allow time for the official cover reveal. The designer reserves the right to display any version of the cover if they feel it is a better representation of their skills than the final product.
Stock images are purchased from depositphotos.com (standard license), Envato Elements, and neo-stock.com (standard license). If custom or stock items from other sites are required for custom work, these will be charged for in addition to the custom rate.

The client must abide by the license terms for any images purchased by the designer for use in the book cover design. For books with a print run/downloads over the allowance, additional licensing fees will apply. Please contact the designer if this applies to you. If the stock photo contract is breached, it is the client’s liability. The designer is not responsible for any licensing infringement.
If the client provides images or other items to be used in the project, they acknowledge that they have obtained relevant permissions and licenses to publish the materials to be used, and they shall be solely responsible for the validity of copyright, trademarks etc. If any dispute arises over such materials, the full legal and financial responsibility is assumed by the client. The material/s provided must not be a public domain work (unless the client is the author).
Stock images are used in the designs, and they are not exclusive, which means the model, background or other elements may be used elsewhere, in other designers’ work or my own.
